My Dear Duke

                                                       My Dear Duke

The way your tail blows through the wind

That let’s me know we’ll be together again

Your soft winny when I go to leave

Makes me inside want to grieve

                                                        Will he sell or keep

                                                     Either way I will weep

                                                     Your Appaloosa breed

Makes you fast for barrel speed

You must be strong till I’m there

                                                Even though you feel scared

                                          Don’t ever think I won’t come back

Because when I do, I’ll help you pack

You on my mind 100% of the time

I’m just trying to save up one pretty dime

                                              Don’t worrie Duke be strong

You can do it, You have been doing it all along

Never Forget

When riding we must never forget
the thoughts and the feelings of our horse
for they will lead us to our glory.

Dear Sunny,
Thank you for showing me what I was blind to see
And for teaching me what I was unable to learn,
I know I can’t be afraid when I’m with you because
You will catch me when I fall
And I will pick you up when you are down
When we are together we are seen as one
I will let you lead the way to glory while I follow closely behind
Through our highpoints and our downfalls you have always been
Sunny Side Up

Love, Cece

p.s. Thank you for lending me your strength, knowledge and power
You can always lean on me

The Jump

The jump. i can hear the voice of my coach, yet  i am not hearing what she is saying. i start counting strides in my head ” three, two, one” i rise into position. My horse pushes from the ground to the air, i feel nothing, hear nothing but my breathing. we land to ground and everything comes back to me in a woosh, i hear the voice of my coach and i feel the air on my skin once again.

Upon the Air

Upon the air the moon is high
The darkness floats into the night
As it runs across the sky
And gets into a flurry fight
The snow then comes sparkling down
Shimmer, glimmers as it falls
And drifts upon the silent town
In the hay and in the stalls
The air is cold, their breath is hot
They stomp their feet and breathe a neigh
They wear warm blankets that we’d bought
As they bed down to rest in hay

The town is silent as it rests
The snow looks charming, at its best.
