BIRTHDAY LULLABY
(All Through The Night)

Hush, sweet mare, don’t be uneasy, it will be alright.
I’ll be here if you should need me, all through the night.
What you feel is Nature’s warning
That your foal will soon be born, and
He’ll be at your side by morning,
To see the dawning light.
The miracle of life repeats all over the earth,
Every time a mother greets her babe at it’s birth.
Look, sweet mare, your foal is coming,
One more push and you’ll be done, and
Time to meet your little one
For all your love is worth.
Welcome to the world, sweet foal, so tiny and new.
Soon your future will unfold with things to see and do.
There will be some pain and trauma,
It’s all part of Nature’s drama,
Snuggle up beside your Mama,
She’ll watch over you.
I smile and watch you try to stand on legs that shake and slide
And wobble as you take your first steps to your mother’s side.
I dream about the days to come
When you and I will play and run, and
Through the years, dear little one,
I’ll be your friend and guide.
